…how many amazing things there are in the world that people have made that are just sitting somewhere, undiscovered? We have a great deal of public art, of greater or lesser notoriety. But there are so many immensely talented people out there, just doing their thing, creating art because they need to, because to them, it’s like breathing. They do not seek publicity, or to make a name for themselves in the art world. They are busy getting on with other things. They are not artists, but people just like you and me, living, studying, working.

Whether or not art is public or private, famous or undiscovered, does not detract from the one element of art that is ever present – and most important: the act of creating. Whether or not financially or otherwise rewarded, every piece of art achieves its aim, which is to make us more human. To help us move along our road. To help us understand others, ourselves. The world.
